my first friends in LA, brian & elise, and our friend berto had a heat pack-selling business (just for fun). i decided to accompany them to the beach one day because it sounded like a nice way to pass the time, but i was pretty useless to the cause and basically just sat in a lawn chair drawing pictures inspired by the goings-on around me. and, just to clarify, the heat packs work via the chemical reaction between a metal disc and a solution of pure salt (nacl) and water. so no, it isn't "normal technology"—it's science!
