my friends and i went to an ice cream shop in carroll gardens, brooklyn called farmacy. they serve old-school ice cream sundaes, floats, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, pie and some actual food, too, i think. the general atmosphere makes you feel transported to a simpler time; there are antiques everywhere—like an old robin's egg blue refrigerator, a glass case full of dusty, old medicine and liquor bottles from like, anne of green gables or something, an old jukebox-type thing that doesn't at all look like a jukebox, but it played music, so that's what i'm calling it...things like that. they also sell locally-made pickles and stuffed animals and toys up front, and there's a display in the window of some of these items. when we had finished our sundaes and shakes and were loitering outside, i commented on how cute the window display was—with the exception of the giant flies crawling around on the toys.
