concept of jayne
2004
oil on canvas
72" x 48"
my sister liked the idea of a conceptual portrait, which is basically a painted collage of a person's favorite things—foods, places, pieces of literature, etc. in the summer of 2004, i went to visit her and her family when they were still living in new york city and we planned this painting together. we pulled out a bunch of mementos from her past and thought of her favorite poems and songs and this is the finished product. some of the items included in this painting are: cymbidium orchid, veuve clicquot champagne, italy, matches from sushi samba and a peanut—symbolic of maxwel.
