g.i. jayne
1999
korean egg tempera on bristol board
14" x 17"
my sister hates this painting of her...and yes, i admit, her face is pretty terrifying. i wasn't so good at portraying skin tones with this method of painting yet—it was only my second painting ever using korean egg tempera. that's actually why i named it “g.i. jayne”: her face looks like camouflage. oops! nevertheless, it won a scholastic silver key award and, all things considered, it's not bad. it was drawn from a school portrait of jayne when she was at upenn (hence the scholarly/nun-like ensemble), and the building in the back is the apartment she lived in at the time.
