foliage study #7
2001
charcoal on paper
19" x 24"
my drawing class was taken to observatory hill (where, per the name, there is an observatory for looking at stars). the area around it has lots of trees and grassy spaces, so we were made to draw our surroundings with charcoal, pencil and india ink. i finished this exercise relatively quickly, having had many years of drawing and painting foliage with mr. bryans as a child. thanks, mr. bryans! it was fun, though, to be out of a classroom and roaming around doing pretty much what we pleased.
