annecy, france
they say annecy is the venice of france. i've never been to venice, but if it's as nice as annecy, then i'm sure i'd love it. the buildings reminded me of the art deco-style buildings in south beach, miami with their brightly-colored façades. a river (canal?) ran through the whole city and had it been warmer, there would have been boats going up and down it like automobile traffic. i loved the city for its adoration of art, its flea markets and its relatively inexpensive prices compared to the tourist town of chamonix. the city was bustling, full of people buying and selling wares, eating ham and cheese sandwiches and looking at art. everything was just so lovely! it's places like annecy that feed my wanderlust and make me daydream about flying away to faraway places.
